OUR MENTAL HEALTH STRUGGLE IS REAL!
PUBLISHED: MARCH 11, 2026
Black men face higher rates of depression, anxiety, PTSD, and suicidal thoughts.
We carry a lot. Pressure to provide. Pressure to perform. Trauma from childhood. Racism. Discrimination. Fear of failure. The weight of being the “strong one” all the time. And the longer we hold that in, the heavier it gets.
Black men face higher rates of depression, anxiety, PTSD, and suicidal thoughts — but we’re far less likely to get help. Not because we don’t care, but because we’ve been taught to suffer in silence. That silence is dangerous. And it’s costing too many of us our peace, our joy, and sometimes our lives.
If you’re dealing with any of these, it’s time to check in with yourself:
Constant anger or irritability
Trouble sleeping or sleeping too much
Feeling numb or emotionally flat
Using alcohol, weed, or sex to escape pain
Withdrawing from friends and family
Feeling hopeless, worthless, or stuck
Struggling to focus or stay motivated
Thinking about giving up, disappearing, or not being here
TAKE CARE OF YOUR BODY
Sleep, movement, nutrition, and hydration all impact your mood and mind. Get active, even if it’s just walking. Cut back on the substances that numb you — they’re only temporary relief.
Write It Out
Journaling is powerful. Get your thoughts out of your head and onto paper. It helps bring clarity and control to what feels like chaos.
Give Yourself Grace
You don’t have to be perfect. You don’t have to carry everything. Healing is a process — not a weakness. Respect yourself enough to rest and recover.
FINAL THOUGHT: IT’S OK TO NOT BE OK — BUT DON’T STAY THERE
You are not alone. You are not broken. You are not less of a man for needing help. You’re still a king. You’re still strong. But even kings need healing. Even warriors need to put the sword down and rebuild from the inside.
The strongest thing a Black man can do in this world isn’t suffer in silence — it’s take control of his mental health, speak his truth, and reclaim his peace.
You’ve survived everything you’ve been through. Now it’s time to start living.

WHY YOU NEED A GOOD DOCTOR IN YOUR CORNER
Training hard is important—but training smart is essential. Too many men enter the gym with good intentions, only to fall into habits that limit progress or lead to injury.
